Spring is here

I have had the great experience of having traveled all over the country and, of having lived in many different biomes: the deserts of Arizona, the rain forests of Oregon and Washington state, and the 11 different climate zones of the Big Island of Hawaii. have developed such an appreciation for the way nature cycles through these diverse biomes, but the shifts in nature I have observed in my native New England have never ceased to draw me in. I was born and raised in Connecticut and feel so very blessed to be raising my children here. Living in New England, we experience the seasons in all their glory and the elements are not to be feared. We wear more rain gear in the spring. In the summer, we dip in LI Sound or the many lakes and rivers CT has to offer. In the fall we wear our layers and in the winter we dress from head to toe in wool and down to keep us cozy.

As a child, I remember, as the snow started to melt in the springtime, the woods would have the most miraculous smell. I enjoy these first weeks of spring where the sunk cabbage would pop up along streams and marshes. Feeling the joy to find snowdrops and crocuses pop up from the ground and other beautiful signs of renewal. These first weeks of spring that remind us that warm weather and barefoot are just around the corner. I believe we are truly blessed to have such a visual rhythm to our year. Happy Spring!!!
